Kuper engineer joins team at Nottingham headquarters
As part of the co-operation between Daltons Wadkin and German woodworking machine manufacturer and distributor Kuper, Julian Gillich 22, a trainee precision engineer from Reitberg, Germany, arrived at the Daltons Wadkin workshops on 7 January with a view to widening his experience and gaining valuable knowledge in their engineering facility with special focus on rebuilding.
Julian worked alongside the Daltons Wadkin fitters for three weeks, concentrating particularly on Planing and Moulding Machines, contributing to fitting, fault finding, modifications, etc. He returned to Germany on 25 January to resume his employment with Heinrich Kuper GMBH and Company.
Julian enjoyed his time with Daltons Wadkin and the variety of work available to him. Francis Dalton commented “We were delighted to have Julian with us even for such a short period and he would be welcome back any time. He worked closely with our Works Manager during his time here and the opportunity was taken to share some of his free time when he was taken out to sample some local beers and hospitality.” He went on to say that it was a nice way to mark a two-way initiative between the companies whereby Daltons Wadkin fitters visit Kuper to see the high standards being employed in the build process of their Planer/ Moulder range and a German trainee comes to the UK to experience the engineering capacity of Daltons Wadkin.
