Crosscutting solution from Daltons Wadkin

Pontrilas Sawmills and Builders Merchants, a family owned business established in 1947 in the Herefordshire village of Pontrilas, are leading suppliers of timber, much of which is locally sourced.  The company are involved in logging, transport and machining and are a high profile source of kiln dried timber.  Pontrilas also source specialist timbers from overseas and pride themselves in being able to meet the specific requirements of a wide range of customers.

Over the last five years they have invested in modernising and expanding their mill and one of their most recent purchases has been a new Salvador Superpush 200 Optimising Automatic Crosscut System.

This machine was installed towards the end of 2013 and is employed for the rapid production of cut to length timber for a variety of industries including the manufacture of pallets.

Operations Director at Pontrilas Brian Pugh visited the Daltons Wadkin showroom in Nottingham for a full working demonstration and was so impressed by the speed, accuracy and versatility of the Superpush 200 that an order quickly followed.  The machine was delivered, commissioned and installed by Daltons Wadkin engineers and Brian is most enthusiastic about this latest addition to their mill.  “It has exceeded all our targets and expectations and has increased our production capacity and quality.”  Daltons Wadkin Sales Director Andy Walsh who handled the sale and has visited Pontrilas Timber on a number of occasions was delighted with the opportunity of supplying another Salvador.  He commented, “It is always satisfying to supply one of these top of the range crosscutting systems and for a prestigious company like Pontrilas Sawmills it seemed the perfect fit.”

The machine installed at Pontrilas incorporates a 5200 mm infeed capacity, twin side aligners/pushers, 250 mm wide pusher plate, 7.5 kW saw motor, gravity pre-loading system and has a maximum 150 mm depth of cut.
